|
| Welcome to the
A.R.C.S.(Advanced Rocket Car Systems) Launch Page. ARCS has recently been
recommisioned, since previous Research and Development proved to be unsuccessful,
and after many attempts to perfect the design, the project failed to produce
a working model.
This research was originally started during the Summer of 2001, and the first prototypes rolled out. However failure to produce a a working prototype saw ARCS out grow its project limits and was shelved until resources were available together with more research from the NASRA team. It stayed at an "unsuccessful" level for further 11 months. However recent events, both successes and failures has given ARCS a new lease of life.

| OUR MISSION: | |
| The main aim for
ARCS is to produce a fully controllable, remote firing, self-recovering,
rocket propelled ground vehicle. This means any form of vehicle that is
in contact with the earth, through run up and under rocket power, that
can also bring itself back to base. However the secondary objectives of
this project are to produce a high-speed ground vehicle. Since these objectives
are interlinked through research it is likely that the finished model is
will encompass both of these. Thus making a fast, controllable vehicle.
Although both these objectives are at a priority level, there is one more facet to this research. There has been race trials, at current there is a R&D project devoted to making a cut down version of a hybrid Rocket Car (RoCa). This RoCa will probably only have steering alone, whilst still having a "dumpable" non-rocket powered drive system to allow velocity to build up before engine firing. |

| ARCS PROFILE: | |
| ARCS is a division
of the main NASRA rocketry project, NASRA has many sub divisions devoted
to their respective tasks. ARCS is one of these divisions.
ARCS was formed in the Spring of 2002 when the Rocket Car project was restarted after its failures of 2001. Although the Rocket Car project was effectively cancelled, research continued. After discussions with NASRA about how to improve a RoCa, designs were made. After further investigation and resource acquisition, ProtoType 1 was rolled out. A series of tests proved it successful and shortly after ARCS as it is today was formed. |
