PROTOTYPE 1:

RoCa Prototype 1: ARCS First working, and successful rocket propelled vehicle.
RoCa Prototype 1 (P1) on its third test run, which proved to be the first successful stright-line firing.
The P1 is the third incarnation of any form of RoCa. The first three were very primitive relying on a launch pole and blast shield system which was held horizontal and parallel to the ground. The RoCa's themselves were standard plastic toy cars with solid polymer wheels, which gave it NO traction and a body weight far to light to work without massive aerodynamic calculations and modifications. The second of the two, had a softer polymer wheel, but was still far too small and light for even a moderately successful launch.

The P1 is the first of  a new breed of RoCa. After a few test firings it soon became obvious that this would be a successful design. Once TS1 (Test Strip 1, the first regular test ground) had been discovered, the tests began to bear fruit. A successful 2 stage single engine firing, even though it crashed. The RoCa P1 has also been raced at TS1, and although there were no "perfect" launches it proved to be a reliable and viable test platform.

RoCa P1's Firing Theory
  • Velocity Before Acceleration.
  • Lighter is NOT necessarily better.
