NASRA FDS Mission Statement

The FDS agency's mission within NASRA is specified by charter as follows:

To Provide Systems to Facilitate Flight Data Collection
FDS work with existing and develop new systems to facilitate collection of live flight data both from primary rocket systems as well as passive collection systems for on and off-site secondary systems.

To Ensure Successful Recovery of Flight Data Records
FDS will co-ordinate closely with design, launch and recovery teams to ensure successful recovery of all recorded flight data. This will include a responsibility of FDS to ensure that any recording systems are correctly housed, handled and recovered intact post-flight.

To Provide Data Management, Visualisation and Interperatation Services
FDS will develop and administer systems providing co-hesive coverage of all flight data, accessable to NASRA Members. FDS will also provide feedback, training and data analysis upon request to other NASRA departments. FDS will also work closely with NASRA Data Systems Division and provide transparent data accessability for such systems as NASRA DSD choose to integrate with the flight records.

To Develop RTFC Systems in Association with DAJPL
FDS with work closely with DAJPL to develop Real-Time Flight Control Systems for deployment by DAJPL within NASRA.
